It's difficult for Australia to set fresh records.

The highest peaks have been successfully scaled.

We're talking about the team that has won seven Cricket World Cups, along with an additional six T20 titles, and once went 1,294 days unbeaten in 50-over cricket.

The remaining milestones, targeted by the record chasers, are all that remain for a squad that has accomplished all there is.

It needed until Sunday's victory by three wickets over India for them to complete their first ODI chase over 300, taking back their record for the highest in women's cricket's 50-over format, is, honestly, a compliment to the bowlers that have sported the yellow jersey over the past 50 years.

It's challenging for their hitters to maintain a record if never given the possibility.

Finally, the outcome of Australia giving up 330 runs was skipper Alyssa Healy receiving an opportunity to create her latest masterpiece.

Originally famous as the young family member of celebrated previous Aussie wicketkeeper Ian, she debuted in 2010 after her nation couldn't capture either of the 20 or 50-over World Cups held the previous year and has seen it all through 15 championship-filled years since.

A T20 World Cup win came three months after her debut and seven global championships have resulted from 10 attempts across formats.

The gritty keeper was also there in Derby in 2017 when a last-four loss by India temporarily stopped the run of success.

That loss "drove us to reconsider our benchmarks," Healy stated recently.

At the next 50-over World Cup in New Zealand, Healy hit 170 against England in the title decider and was declared player of the series. She made sure her country would not come up short.

If this latest epic knock exceeded that prior achievement is debatable.

Some will argue the argument supporting championship match pressure. Others can counter with the challenge that comes when confronting a historic chase and a loud pro-India audience of 20,000.

What's definite is this hundred was much more difficult to anticipate.

The Christchurch destruction in 2022 happened while she was the highest scorer, but this performance came after six matches in India from the beginning of the previous month in which she had been unable to reach 30.

"For those following me in training, it's been a challenging time because it appeared I've had no rhythm completely," commented Healy.

"However when you take the field, your competitive nature take over and you completely engage with the contest."

Healy's competitive nature has consistently been her key asset - and a priceless quality in taking over from famous previous leader Meg Lanning.

She was troubled by India's emerging talent Kranti Gaud in the previous month's ODI series, out to the young fast bowler in all three matches, but here that only provided Healy's spark.

A single came off the bowler's initial ball and from that point the batsman was underway.

"The possibility to play and face the challenge with her and simply enjoy myself in that aspect, sort of got me going," stated Healy.

She got to fifty in 35 pitches - her swiftest at a World Cup - and her century in 84 deliveries while she flogged anything short, hitting 21 fours and three sixes.

By the time she was removed her side needed 66 additional runs at run per delivery - an unconquered height now requiring a leisurely stroll.

"Chasing 330 runs is unfamiliar ground so I am glad we have the confidence to achieve that now," continued Healy.

"Hopefully we don't have to repeat it but, if necessary, we believe we can do it."

These statements will be the final thing competing nations at this World Cup want to hear.

Over the past five days a belief they will succeed regardless of circumstances has only strengthened - this success succeeding success over Pakistan by 107-run victory despite being 76-7 at one stage.

Following this Australia face Bangladesh before a meeting with longtime competitors England in Indore in a week and a half, by which point a semi-final berth may well be secure.

It was in the semi-finals they exited last year's T20 World Cup in an unexpected loss by South Africa - an encounter Healy couldn't play because of ruptured tissue in her foot as she captained her nation for the inaugural occasion at a major tournament.

Such is her determination, she subsequently stated she wished she had played with the discomfort.

Yet even as she afterwards confessed those injuries have postponed plans to retire, this championship is likely to be her last as captain in 50-over cricket and she is yet to win a world championship as skipper.

Triumph in India would bring her to the top of her final mountain.
