The Combat-Oriented Party Introduced
Episode 3 ended with a major cliffhanger and introduced the initial group of adventurers who will split off from the main group to embark on their own adventure, distinct from the additional parties.
The Soldiers table includes the determined fighter (played by the voice actor), the nimble rogue (the talented performer), Tyranny (Whitney Moore), Wicander Halovar (Sam Riegel), and the mysterious adventurer (Robbie).
Dividing the Cast
Given 13 cast members, it was clear from the beginning that having everyone at a single group would be unworkable.
This explains, the opening chapters of this story serve as an Prelude, connecting the characters’ stories before branching into three distinct groups: Fighters, Schemers, and Explorers.
What Defines the Warrior Group
Per the DM, the Soldiers table is for adventurers who enjoy a typically action-packed combat and conflict-driven story mode where diplomatic options are few and far between.
Upon first impression, characters like the reluctant priest Wicander Halovar might look unsuited, but the actions of the latest installment make it clear why these specific adventurers are perfectly fit for the combat party.
Motivations for Departure
To begin with, the party understands precisely where to head next after a brutal opening clash with The Crow Keepers.
Casimir of Thjazi Fang—whose demise kicked off the campaign’s events—manipulated the enemy for his personal gain, entering Thjazi’s hideout, assaulting the character, and stealing all the magical artifacts to sell off.
Casimir then cleared his obligations and ran away to a Halovar stronghouse in the northern region, beyond Dol-Makjar, with Cyd pursuing him.
Personal Motivations
Secondly, each adventurer has a individual motive to leave the city the urban setting:
- The rogue, as the close ally and closest confidant, wants retribution.
- The adventurer is familiar with the northern area and warns that it is a dangerous location.
- The warrior and The cleric, having disobeyed his house’s orders to execute the fighter and instead saved him, have nowhere else to go.
- But, their reputation as important members in the powerful family could enable the party enter areas they normally couldn’t.
- Moreover, The fighter pledged a life debt to The cleric for his salvation and will now accompany him anywhere.
Fugitives
In addition, all of them are wanted by the rulers that control the city for a multiple motives, making remaining behind no longer safe:
- The agile adventurer and The character are notorious outlaws.
- The strong figure and Wicander turned against the influential house and the army of fiends they are aligned with.
- The target is marked for death by the family.
This results in them little choice but to travel to the remote area in quest for the traitor.
